Akio Ohta "Our Islands are Disappearing"

Nikon Plaza Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Akio Ohta
This is an exhibition of 59 color photographs. With warm weather and friendly people, the islands that dot the Seto Inland Sea are like heaven. However, most of the islanders are elderly people, and the islands seem to be filled with abandoned homes, shrines and temples, and cats. Some are likely to become deserted in a decade or so.
Akio Ohta photographed Shishijima, Okinoshima, Awashima, Sanagishima, Takamishima, Ibukijima, Honto, Ogito, Naoshima, and Megijima.
