"Beautiful British Books" Exhibition

Chiba City Museum of Art
Finished
A new era began for Britain's printing technology when William Caxton (1422?-91) brought in the Gutenberg printing machine, resulting in several centuries of technological development and the creation of a great many 'beautiful books'.
Part One of this exhibition takes a look at the history of English books through works from the 19th to 20th century and Part Two delves into the challenges of modern book design through a display of works by the prestigious Designer Bookbinders Association.
