Japan has changed greatly in the 150 years since the end of the Edo Period. The country opened itself up to Western influences and one of those was the use of oil paint. Taking works from the National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto's large collection of paintings, this exhibition brings together approximately 70 works by 51 artists who adopted these Western painting techniques in their work.
