Dancers in Paris

Panasonic Shiodome Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

George Rouault, Marie Laurencin
In a place and age where artists gathered to Paris from all over the world to pursue art, both George Rouault and Marie Laurencin, born and bred in Paris, left behind many masterpieces.
This exhibition focuses on a common theme, dancers, by those 2 artists of radically different styles.
Rouault developed an almost woeful compassion for clowns and dancers through years of following traveling circuses in Paris. This would become his motif for arts throughout his whole life. Laurencin drew feminine dancers as a natural expression for her adoration for mythological worlds.
