Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934) was an icon of what is known as 'Taisho Romance'. He pursued beauty and ideals throughout his life while capturing many women on canvas.
The early Taisho period was when a modern lifestyle started to become widely accepted, and women became active in various social and cultural scenes. Yumeji kept up with the times and created many works depicting women on the cutting edge of cultural trends.
This exhibition features paintings and illustrations of women in the Taisho period and the women in Yumeji's life.
