Cecco Bonanotte
Bonanotte was born in Porto Recanati, a country town with unique traditions in the Marche region of central Italy, in 1942. Due to the influence of his father who was a furniture manufacturer, he frequented workshops from an early age, developing his interest for handling tools, the manufacturing process, as well as the sensibilities of creation.

Bonanotte's work consists of themes such as 'time' and 'space', with the main topic of 'anticipation', 'contrast' and 'birds' being developed in a free-form style, allowing various interpretations by the viewer. His persistent usage of bronze casting via the traditional method of ceroplastics is probably due to a nostalgia for his motherland, Italy.

This exhibition not only features work from major museums in Japan, but also special works from Italy, consisting of 90 sculptures and 60 paintings and drawings, including 150 works from the Vatican Museum. The artist has been involved in both the curation and display of the exhibition.
