Artists

Yumeji Takehisa
Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934) was an icon of what is known as 'Taisho Romance'. Although he is known mainly for his illustrations of beautiful women, he also drew landscapes, still lifes, and children.

Takehisa was also a poet, and he would add poems and haikus to his paintings and illustrations, experimenting with different methods of expression. His penmanship can be observed in letters as well. The flowing brush strokes illustrate his passionate spirit and inner beauty.
