Contemporary Prints: Transformation of Photographic Image

The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
Finished
This exhibition features print works that involve the use of photographs. "Prints" used to refer to either wood-block or copper-plate prints, but the usage of photography with print is becoming more popular nowadays with the influence of American Pop Art and the rising quality of silkscreen and lithograph technology. This trend in art also reflects the spread of images and videos in the information age.
Artists are starting to ask themselves, 'What is print?' In addition to the characteristics inherent to photography itself, combining photography with print makes a wide range of artistic expression available within the process of selecting and deciding on the layout.
