"Eitaro Takenaka and his Mysterious Illustrations" Exhibition

Yayoi Museum
Finished

Artists

Eitaro Takenaka
This exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Eitaro Takenaka with original illustrations, works featured in magazines, and material from post-war works.

Takenaka's illustrations were welcomed to a fanatic degree by the people of the Showa Era, which was erotic, grotesque and filled with nonsense. He provided illustrations for mystery, historical, and modern novels, and became the darling of the book illustration industry.

Works by other artists of the same period will also be on display to present the mysterious and beautiful world of book illustrations at the end of the Taisho Era to the beginning of the Showa Era.
