Nagi Noda
In her three incarnations as director, art director and artist, Nagi Noda's combination of flair and expression have drawn the attention of the international media, making her one of the most talked-about creator of the younger generation.
For Nike, she portrayed the beauty of sport with both coolness and charm, while for Laforet she recreated a world from the fevered imagination of a young girl, taking the advertising industry by storm.
Her stop-motion music video for Yuki, "Sentimental Journey," using actual photographs of 100 people, has garnered high acclaim, as have her other film works.
This exhibition displays the "Hanpandas", creations that are half panda, half other animal (han means "half" in Japanese); in total, 16 2m-tall hanpandas, several rubberized hanpandas with their non-panda halves encased in black rubber, a Yorkshire terrier hanpanda sculpture, and a stuffed deer hanpanda wall hanging. Videos and other representative works will be shown in the gallery basement.
In conjunction with this exhibition, the publication of 2 books: ggg Books 73: Nagi Noda and GAS BOOK no. 22: Nagi Noda.
