Works by female Impressionist painters haven't been exposed as much as they should be. This is a retrospective exhibition of Berthe Morisot, who studied under Camille Corot and is one of the significant painters of that time. When Impressionism emerged in late 19th century France, women weren't given a chance to receive prominent art education. Under such circumstances, Berthe Morisot was the first to participate in the First Impressionism Painting Exhibition, and throughout her career she continued to explore sophisticated forms of expression.

Later on, she married a brother of Edouard Manet, Eugène. After the marriage, the themes of her paintings were mostly things close to her daily life, such as her daughter Julie, and scenes from her garden.
