Artists

David McKee
This exhibition features "Elmer the Patchwork Elephant", the representative creation one of Great Britain's national picture book authors, David McKee. The mischievous, happy main character Elmer is the sole colorful, patchwork-patterned elephant among his fellow elephants. Since the book's appearance in 1968, it has been translated in 25 countries and continues to be popular among children around the world for its unique color combinations and playful storyline.

Valuable original illustrations for the book will be on display in this exhibition. Elmer - whose creation is said to have been influenced by Paul Klee's works - was drawn freely in oil, watercolor, and pastel. This will be a special opportunity to have an close-up view of these original drawings, whose charm differs from the picture book itself.
