This lecture is about the Shinobue, a flute used in Japanese classical music. In front of a wall painting by atist Yuichi Enomoto, Toru Fukuhara will perform his original music with his Shinobue.

"The world of Japanese traditional music is filled with profound beauty and the flute plays various roles in it. However, in Japanese classical music, it is only used as a musical accompaniment, and there has been no music made with a solo flute or dedicated to the flute. My teacher was the first one to compose a solo piece for the flute. You have to come up with your own original music if you want to play a solo. This whole act relates to reconsidering classical music, and breaking down boundaries.
