Chen Ruo Bing
Born in China in 1970, Chen Ruo Bing now resides in Duesseldorf, Germany and Beijing, China. After studying Chinese traditional painting and calligraphy at National Academy of Fine Arts, Hangzhou in China, he moved to Germany in 1992. Since his graduation form the G. Graubner class at the Art Academy in Duesseldorf in 1998, Chen has exhibited his works in France, Germany, Japan and China. In 2000 he was invited to the United States under the artist-in-residence program at Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut.

Ever since Chen completed his study at the Art Academy in Duesseldorf, he paints simple geometric forms repeatedly on canvas, and gives equal value to the image and the background. This is his experiment to unite, in his painting, the tradition of Chinese paintings which is already a part of his nature, with the European modernism.

With his shallow, decorative painting space, with the delicate blot of acrylic which reminds us of ink painting in China, simple geometric forms and bright color which evoke the sense of joy, and with the metaphysical light overflowing from the inside of the painting, Chen produces very unique and attractive paintings.

Now Chen has already spent more than fifteen years in Germany. It seems that he has obtained his own original painting style, easily jumped over the framework of confrontation of the East and the West. However, his fundamental stance is the same and consistent, which is a Chinese painter who is working in the middle of European modern culture.

In 2006, Chen Ruo Bing had an one-person show at Shanghai Art Museum. In May Chen Ruo Bing Museum, which displays only his works and Chinese antiques, opened in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province in China. In Japan, he participated in the three person show titled "An Existence" at Shiseido Gallery in Tokyo. In spring 2008, his solo show is scheduled at Gallery KONG in Seoul, South Korea. He is now getting great acclaim not only in Europe but also in Asian countries. Recently at the 1st Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York in November 2007, his paintings were reviewed as "fine blend of formalism, hedonism and transcendentalism" in The New York Times. The first appearance of his works was well appreciated by audience in New York.

This show is his fourth one person show at taguchi fine art, ltd. Six paintings will be installed.
