Akikhide Tamura
Born in Tokyo in 1947, Akihide Tamura graduated from the Tokyo College of Photography. He received critical attention from Koen Shigemori, a photography critic who was also a teacher at the TCP. His "House" series of photographs, which he took in his 20s, were exhibited in the "New Japanese Photography" exhibition at MoMA in New York in 1974, and then acquired for the museum collection. Since then he has been working as a photographer for magazines and advertising agencies, while also putting in effort into photography education, teaching at the TCP.

This exhibition is centered around 20 works from his early series "Base", showcasing snapshots taken in the locations that film director Akira Kurosawa used for shooting his films, 8x10 Polaroid prints of nudes and some hitherto unpublicized color prints.
