This exhibition series was started in 1996 with the theme of responses to scenery, with art direction by artist Takeo Kubota. In the beginning, the focus of these exhibitions was works using lens techniques only. However, camera techonology has progressed greatly since then, and so has the curators' thinking. What is scenery? What is image? The answer is still uncertain and so is the direction that art will take. The exhibition is held to explore these questions.
