In November 2006, as museum staff were sorting out Okamoto's studio, the painting "Electric Shock" was found by chance. The painting was made in 1947, found with an old postcard hinting at the time.

1947 was the year when Okamoto restarted painting at the studio in Kaminoge after coming back from the war in China. It is an important year for Okamoto, as it was then that he declared war on existing conservative ideas and pressures of power in post-war Japanese society.

He rarely depicted representational figures except for death masks and military scenes. This work reveals something that hasn't been seen in Okamoto's work before.
