Shomei Tomatsu
This artist is a representative Japanese postwar photographer who has continued to exhibit photographic series on various topics all over Japan since the 1950s. "Tokyo Mandala" is the last installment of the "Mandala" series that has been held in Nagasaki, Okinawa, Kyoto and Aichi. The works will cover the 1920s to the 1960s centering on Tokyo and including Chiba, Kanagawa and the greater Kanto region. This artist's most famous works such as "Occupation," "Asphalt," "I am a King" and "Shinjuku" will be on display as well as important series such as "Osorezan" and "Cherry Blossom" taken on regional shoots and hitherto unpublicized works; 300 works in total.
