Kaoru Watanabe, Tamango, Mio Matsuda, D.H. Rosen
New York based Western and Japanese flute player Kaoru Watanabe brings together some old friends for "Resonance", an intimate music/ dance/ art experience in the spirit of Sado Island's acclaimed Earth Celebration festival. A former performer and current artistic director for the world renown taiko ensemble "Kodo", Watanabe has learned to channel a diverse range of musical and artistic styles into a cohesive, organic entity. For this performance, Kaoru welcomes Victor Records recording artist Matsuda Mio, cellist Sakamoto Hiromichi, the calligrapher Koji Kakinuma and the masterful tap dancer Tamango. In this intimate experience, the performers will move among the audience in an atmospheric space realized by simple staging, soft lighting and an ethereal stage set designed by ceramic artist D.H. Rosen.
