Naotaka Hiro
Born in Osaka in 1972, Naotaka Hiro has been living in the U.S. since 1990, and graduated from California Institute of the Arts in 2000. This exhibition "Knows Nothing," attempts to explore the unknown sphere beyond one's cognitive limit. Pointing out the sentimentality of perceiving his own body through a photograph or a reflection in a mirror, he create works based on his body - supposedly the closest thing to himself.

"Rotating a Skull" is a video piece about holding a skull and examining it from various angles, and imaging that part of body from the weight and texture, which cannot ever be seen with his own eyes. One of the works in this exhibition is also based on a skull - the artist has recreated a head by adding parts to a skull. Contrary to his previous work, in which focused on the actual skull and the inner self, this body of work explores what appears on the outside.
