Hiroyuki Watanabe "Mental Disability"

Konica Minolta Plaza

poster for Hiroyuki Watanabe "Mental Disability"

This event has ended.

Watanabe couldn't believe that he became frightened when he visited a facility for mentally disabled people for the first time in Fall 2001. For five years since then, he has been taking photographs of the people at the facility to get over his narrow-minded view of them and yet he says there is still a boundary that he cannot go beyond. Through this exhibition, he hopes that viewers will find a way to get close to them and achieve a better understanding.
