"Wa Mode - Japanese Female Mode: Traditional Costume and Make Up" Exhibition

Traditional Japanese "wa" culture has been in the spotlight recently, and accessories and fashion items incorporating "wa" are seen often. This exhibition gives the title "wa mode" to this trend and style of Japanese accouterment and traces the roots of this style through Japanese female dress. Various sections such as "drawn wa mode" "kosode kimono sleeve wa mode" "make up wa mode" "hair and hair accessory wa mode" and "cultural enlightenment and modern wa mode" will introduce kosode kimono sleeves, combs and hairpins, make up tools, ukiyo-e female prints that depict the bright world of "wa mode".
