"All About Ukiyoe Original Painting" Exhibition

Idemitsu Museum of Arts
Finished

Artists

Hokusai Katsushika, Utamaro Kitagawa, Hiroshige Utagawa et al.
Ukiyoe flourished for more than 200 years during the Edo period, originally depicting scenes of actors and prostitutes. Artists created sketches to produce prints, but besides that, they also created original paintings of beautiful women and scenes.

This exhibition reveals the Idemitsu Museum of Arts' collection of Ukiyoe, which are all original paintings. This is the second part of the exhibition, featuring Ukiyoe masterpieces and it gives a great overview of their history as well as an opportunity to see the lively strokes and colors of the master artists.
