Chihiro Kato has exhibited in group shows at Gunma Museum of Art, Tatebayashi, and Miyagi Prefectural Museum, mainly showing her delicate and yet grotesque sculptures entitled "Hybrid", which are imaginative plants made of polymer clay painted with acrylics.
This is Kato's first solo exhibition featuring her new 6 paintings - of creatures that are hybrids of birds, insects, and sea animals - in addition to her sculpture pieces. These impossible creatures seem transient but somewhat strong enough to co-exist in this world, reminding one of human figures. They are painted with overtly vivid colors, which leaves one with a strong impression of their life force.
