"Graphic Design 1930: Print, Photography, Typography, Isotype" Exhibition

Fuji Xerox Art Space
Finished
Sandwiched between the two world wars, the years between the 1920s and 1930s were filled with depression and chaos, but were pivotal and revolutionary at the same time. Following Einstein's theory of relativity, new innovations such as atomic mechanics and the electron microscope were introduced, and in the economic field the "General Theory" was presented by Keynes. In the art scene as well, various experimental works were created as a result of international cultural exchange, influencing the art of the late 20th century.

This exhibition introduces works that cannot be easily categorized from the Fuji Xerox collections. These experimental printmaking and graphic design works that would later be recognized as modern design were spreading through Europe with the backing of modernist ideology and the development of copying technology. This exhibition consists of two parts, focusing on prints, posters, design books and magazines from the modern period, and comparing these expressions with design techniques such as isotype, typography, photography and others.
