In 1991, Chiba City Museum of Art received 407 works from Yuta Sato. Sato ran Sato Gallery in Ginza from 1955-1981 and contributed to the development and spread of contemporary art in post-war Japan.

Many of the artists who exhibited at Sato Gallery took a liking to Sato, and donated small works to the gallery after their shows, resulting in a collection of over 400 works. Most of these were donated to Chiba City when they were preparing to open a museum.

110 works by thirty artists will be introduced in this exhibition.
