Chairs have become an indispensable part of modern Japanese life. Recently as the concepts of "Wa" and "Japanese tradition" receive increasing attention, demands for chair design and function and the appropriate balance between living and work space are rising, alongside the reconfirmation of praise for tatami mats. This exhibition features pieces that display the functional beauty of chairs and unchanging beauty of form. International designer and recent winner of the illustrious Japanese cultural award Shijuhoshou, Shigeru Uchida, will guide the structure of the exhibition. Fashionable chairs suitable for modern spaces will be on display.
