The "Index" exhibition was held for the first time at Artzone, the art space run by Kyoto Zokei Art University. For its second incarnation in 2006, Artzone held the exhibition together with Tokyo Wonder Site and this year it has grown even bigger, being held at three venues altogether (the other being the Shin-bi art space belonging to Kyoto Seika University). The 10 participating artists are all in their 20s. This exhibition is an experiment in which young people who are aspiring to become arts managers are showing the work of their contemporaries.

Tokyo Wonder Site has held a variety of programs that relate to the support or cultivation of culture and one of its distinctive core tenets is "learning on site". This concept is a process indispensible to becoming a professional and yet is not often catered for by cultural institutions. In collaboration with art universities, Tokyo Wonder Site is aiming to provide education in arts management to the next generation of creatives, offering a special chance to Kansai-based students to study in Tokyo.
