Artists

Mika Toba
This exhibition presents the work of Mika Toba, who uses traditional Japanese textile dyeing techniques to portray scenes from foreign countries, each with a unique sense of colour and atmosphere. Toba visited Vietnam for the first time in 1994, where she was enthralled by the heat and bustle of her surroundings. Since then she has visited every year, capturing in her work the changes Vietnam is going through. Last year, she visited the very different desert landscapes of Morocco, which allowed her to look back at her past works and find a new starting point. This exhibition presents the "heat" of Vietnam and the "aridness" of Morocco; through these traditional techniques viewers will be able to get a sense of the atmosphere of these two countries.
