Artists

Atsuhiko Misawa
This exhibition, centering on this artist's drawings and paintings, is being held to coincide with the Hokkaido Asahikawa Museum retrospective exhibition featuring his wood carvings. Keys to the artist's daily thoughts that lie behind his creations can be found in these works, which have been drawn on the backs of envelopes and cardboard. His clay and paper works of small birds are primitive and energetic in a different way than his life-size wood bird carvings. These drawings and objects are partial elements that lead to his wood carving creations, but at the same time constitute their own creative world. Another feature of this exhibition is his love of music, which plays an extremely important part in his works. Approximately 30 drawings and 15 clay sculptures will be on display in addition to one new wood carving of a white bear.
