10 artists who were selected in the first round of reviews based on their portfolios will each exhibit their works in a hitotsubo (meaning one 'tsubo', ie. 1.82 x 1.82m) sized space. The grand prize winner of the Hitotsubo Exhibition Competition will obtain the right to hold a solo exhibition at Guardian Garden in a year's time. Photos by an artist who was heavily influenced by Ryoma Sakamoto and visited Kyoto on the anniversary day of his death; photos of the daily workings of a seven person family's home and a rhythmical sequence of still images extracted from film of a train taken by digital camera in video mode are among the unique collection of works on display.
