Finished
This exhibition is held in commemoration of French novelist, and art writer Tatsuhiko Shibusawa (1928-1987). In the literature world, Shibusawa is known for his translation of works by the Marquis de Sade and Huysmans. He developed his career by introducing various artists from Mannierism, Surrealism, and Modern period of his time, and this exhibition introduces works by the artists to whom he paid extra attention, analyzing his viewpoints. The 1960s was a period when interactions among radical individuals often took place. Yukio Mishima, Tatsumi Hijikata, Juro Kara - these notable figures from literature, theater, and the visual arts surrounded Shibusawa, giving shape to a form of intellectual salon. This exhibition revisits how Shibusawa was leading the scene and aims to reveal the overview of his aesthetic viewpoint.
