Artists

Gako Suzuki
Gako Suzuki (1816-1870) was born in Shimofusa Kanahori Town, which is present day Kanahori Town near Funabori City.

Nowadays, Suzuki is known as the father of Hakutei and Tsuru Ishii, but in his time, he was well established as an artist in the style of Buncho Tani (1763-1840). Many artists of the Tani school went on to have big roles in art history after the Meiji Era.

Works by Gako Suzuki that have been passed down to his descendants will be on display, along with paintings by his colleague, Takeshiro Matsuura.
