Artists

Tsuyoshi Nojima, Hiroo Egoshi
The United States government's attitude on media coverage for the Iraq War took a complete turn from that of the Gulf War and invasion of Afghanistan. 600 American and foreign embedded journalists were approved to cover the war that started with aerial bombing by the American military in March 2003. Asahi Shinbun's reporter Tsuyoshi Nojima provided embedded journalism of the United States Marine Corps proceeding north from Kuwait to Iraq from March 10th to April 5th, 2003. On the other hand, Hiroo Egoshi who belonged to the American news agency ACME at the outbreak of the Korean War in June, 1950 provided photojournalistic reporting of the Korean War as a UN campaign correspondent between July, 1951 and spring of 1954. In this exhibition, the military equipment that these two Japanese journalists used a half-century apart from each other will be on display. Also, Nojima's embedded reports and photographs of the Iraq War and Egoshi's photographs of the Korean War will be used to introduce the extraordinary nature of embedded military journalism.
