Chiharu Shiota "From Silence"

Kanagawa Prefectural Gallery
Finished

Artists

Chiharu Shiota
Chiharu Shiota participated in the first Yokohama Triennale with an installation entitled "Memory from the Skin" consisting of 5 enormous mud-splattered dresses hanging in the hall that gave visitors a powerful impression. Another installation, "Thread," literally tied together items such as pianos and chairs, making them useless by encasing them in string. Yet another installation brought together a large number of windows collected from abandoned buildings in the former East Berlin. This exhibition brings together several of Shiota's most important installations.
