This exhibition introduces the artist’s brand-new series “Kaori Love” (painting on black-and-white photographs) centering on monochrome photographs of flowers that were taken over 16 years, from 1990 to 2007.
On January 27, 1990, the artist’s wife Yoko passed away, and the artist photographed a kobushi flower (a type of magnolia) that was in the hospital. Since then he has continued to photograph flowers. The flowers Araki photographs seem born again, beautiful, dazzling brightly with life, maddeningly exposing wounds that were hidden away. Just one photograph enchants and portrays a sentimental moment with the utmost preciousness. The entire world lies there - life (Eros) and death (Thanatos), and the happiness and unhappiness that lies between. The artist photographed a kobushi flower once again on January 27th, 2007.

アラーキーの奥さんが亡くなった病室にあったコブシの花。
それ以来、花の写真を撮るようになった彼が覗くファインダーには、生花・ドライフラワー・枯れかけている花・切花・観葉植物、などなどの植物、ところにより動物。
どれもこれも艶っぽい。
そして色っぽい。
そしてときどきエロい。
荒木さんは花までプリっと(?)撮るんですね。
美しくてグラマラスで、悲しい気がしてしまいました。
いろいろと重ね合わせてしまうことがあって、私にとっては様々な意味で、見るのが少し大変でした。
でもちゃんと見たおかげでひとつ乗り越えた気がします。
要領を得ないコメントですみませんー。
