Artists

Kodo Tanaka
Tanaka's subjects of his photographs are unexpected things that he encounters such as marks found on mushrooms, or shadows of trees projected on the surface of snow. The photographs are, at the same time, records of secret symbols hidden in nature.

Negative film is meant to guarantee actual prints showing the same image as the negative, but Tanaka processes his film in a way that the images on the film are constantly changing. It is as if the images don't belong anywhere. Every time he makes a print from the negative, it produces a different picture with noise patterns.

The title of this exhibition, "Panta Rhei" is a quote from Heraclitus, meaning "everything is in flux".
