Since its creation in 1953, the Japan Design Committee has selected products of the highest grade of design that will lead to improvements in lifestyle, and implemented a system to realize the sale of these products in Matsuya Department Store's 7th Floor "Design Collection" area. Since November 1999, products of excellence have been selected and referred to as "Best Selection" items. "Best Selection" products meet a variety of criteria such as having beautiful forms and colors, being functional, being priced appropriately, and leading to improvement in lifestyle, and as of March 2007, over 30 products have been categorized as “Best Selection”. In this exhibition, actual "Best Selection" products will be on display alongside a written explanation by committee members.
