Taro Okamoto published a collection of essays entitled "Niramekko." Niramekko is a a staring contest in which two players have to keep looking at each other's eyes without laughing. In 1980 and '81, books entitled "Niramekko Mondo" and "Life is a Dream, Niramekko Mondo," which contain Q&A dialogue between Okamoto and various young people, were published. In the essay "Niramekko," he talks about "Niramekko" being a point of confrontation between people. It is also a personal confrontation signaling a new relationship in life. This exhibition presents Okamoto's works expressing the idea of "Niramekko" and revealing the energy of life.
