Artists

Taro Okamoto
Taro Okamoto (1911-1996) went to Paris at the age of eighteen, exhibiting in galleries and later serving in the military for four years. After he came back, he built his studio in Kaminoge in Setagaya Ward, restarting his life as a painter. This exhibition features works from the period when Okamoto was a resident in Setagaya, from 1946 to 1954. Considering the social context of the time, the show explores what he was concious of, what he focused on, and also his interactions with his counterparts from the art and literature world.
