The artist first attracted attention in the nineties with his photographs and film from his trip to the Chernobyl disaster area folowing the nuclear power plant accident there. "Infinite Embrace" (1994), "Nadja's Village" (1998) and "Alexei and the Spring"(2002) are among his award-winning photographs and his films "Nadja's Village" (1998) and "Alexei and the Spring" (2002) were also critically acclaimed at the Berlin International Film Festival. His debut work was entitled "Coal Mine (Mountain)" (1968) and since then he has been photographing real people active in their element such as people at circuses, scenes from Ueno Station, and the Tsukiji Fish Market. His works force one to address the question "What is true abundance in this world of material wealth?" In this exhibition, unpublicized works from his student days, his representative works and works from his ongoing project "Baobab" will be on display simultaneously at Creative Gallery G8 and Guardian Garden.

悲惨さの宣伝ではなく、普段の豊かな生活によって観る者の想像力を誘起するあり方。
