Artists

Osamu Wataya
This photographer was born in Hokkaido in 1963. He came to Tokyo to study graphic design and worked as an art director. He took on projects such as starting Hysteric Glamour's photography collection studying photography on his own and has been working as a photographer since 1991. He has presented many collections of works such as "Riverbed," recording his days spent on the canals of Amsterdam; "Engaru," of his hometown; "Agenda," a collection of 600 works taken in Tokyo over the course of a year; and many others.

This exhibition titled "Rumor" is a collection of photographs of people taken between 2005 and 2006 on the streets of Shinjuku. By focusing on the person themselves and not as a part of the landscape, he acknowledges anew the relationships between people, the distance between the lens and the object, the asymmetry of perspective and the ambiguous relationship that exists there and calls it "rumor." These photographs are giant square prints, about 120cm on each side and have a mysterious unique air. New works "Pond" taken on the banks of a lake in Ukraine will also be on display.
