Both the way a person interacts with others, and the way a person interacts with works of art create new beginnings. The communication art series began with the above concept. Since 2003, Pepper's has carried out various programs presenting works on paper and in digital media created by artists of the new generation. We now bring you the second "YOUNG ARTISTS' BOOKS PROJECT," which was launched last year.
Young Artists' Books Project 2nd
The "Young Artists' Books Project" that began as the exhibition "Reading IV" became the "Young Artists' Books Fair," held during January '07 at Kinokuniya Bookstore Shinjuku Takashimaya Times Square, and traveled to New York as the "Young Artists' Book Project." Exhibited simultaneously at Kinokuniya Bookstore New York and at four other locations, the fair was a big success. The fair will return this year with the addition of a "digital artists' book" category, which we aim to establish as a serious artists' book genre.
The development of digital technology and machinery has made bookmaking unthinkably easy. The genre of artists' books, primarily made by young artists, is spreading globally. This program focuses on artists who are taking the book, a conventionally very public medium, and turning it into a private one.
