"Flemish Paintings of the 17th Century from the National Gallery of Prague" Exhibition

Bunkamura Museum of Art
Finished
In 17th century Flanders, painting arts were reaching an age of maturity. Flanders was a region in the Holy Roman Empire that was ruled by the noted Habsburg family, and had also become a major artistic center due to the influence of then emperor Rudolf II who loved art. In this exhibition, the works that became the models for the artists of Bohemia will be on display. At the time, there were two major artists in Flanders: Rubens and Bruegel. Rubens was an artist who represented Baroque art whose works were characterized a dynamic, lively style. The Bruegel family ruled the art world with their portraits of farmers. They have left many countryside scenes as well as splendid, extremely detailed, still life paintings. Approximately 70 works will be on display. Please see museum webpage for details.
