Goods from around the world abound in Tokyo, but there are few from Portugal. The Portugal Fair introduces modern Portugal, particularly its foods and crafts to Japan. In the same way that Japan has fine traditional crafts, Portugal also boasts traditional crafts that have been passed on for centuries. There is a similarity in aesthetic values that the Portugese and Japanese have, in addition to the similarity in gastronomic culture based on rice and fish. The Portugese crafts introduced here are sure to strike a chord within Japanese viewers, and the foods also present an element that is necessary in today's Japanese food culture.

Companies that have been active in over 40 countries around the world in North America, South Africa and Asia, not to mention Europe, will be introduced in this exhibition. Many have long histories and the brand names have become associated widely with the products themselves. We hope that this will provide the opportunity for increased interaction with Portugal.
