Munemichi Yanagi + Shussai-gama Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Gallery TOM
Media: Ceramics
With his designs of warm and simple forms, Munemichi Yanagi is one of Japan's leading product designers. His works range from household products to pedestrian walkways.
Yanagi also experimented with glazed pottery, independent of product design. He started in Kanjiro Kawai's Gojyozaka Workshop and was influenced by the craftsmen of Shussai-gama in the 1960s. The works he produced there have now revolved into functional products by Shussai-gama, who have the manufacturing capability to produce pottery for usage in daily life.
