Born in Tokyo in 1933, Mitsuo Kano is a self-taught artist working in copperplate printing since the mid 1950s. His work was highly acclaimed in various international printmaking exhibitions during the 1960s and he became one of Japan's major artists. Later, he also started to work with oil painting. He had a large solo show in Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art in 2000, and again, he was invited to the Ljubljana International Printmaking Biennial in 2005.

This exhibition features 25 oil paintings on paper, in addition to 7 intaglio prints.
