Rieko Hidaka
Rieko Hidaka was born in Tokyo in 1968, and has a master's degree in Japanese paintings from Musashino Art University. Having spent a year in Germany as a trainee from the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Hidaka is now based in Tokyo. This is her third solo exhibition at the Tomio Koyama Gallery.

Monochrome trees are a prevalent subject in Hidaka's works. However, their delicate lines are unlike anything we would expect in a landscape painting. The artist comments, "The more I look, the more I see a distance that is unmeasurable. I look up and draw these trees to feel how real this distance is. I pursue distance and space in paintings through the distance found in trees."

This exhibition features new works in the "Distance from the sky" series.
6 paintings, including 3 large works and 6 drawings will be on display.
