Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo

Artists

Taro Okamoto
"The Myth of Tomorrow" is a work that Taro Okamoto was commissioned to make for a hotel in Mexico City between 1968 and 1969. However, due to a deterioration in the financial affairs of the people who made the commission, the work was not installed as planned and went missing for many years. Finally, some 30 years later it was rediscovered in September 2003.

Following its hugely popular display in Tokyo's Shiodome area in Summer 2006, this exhibition presents the work "The Myth of Tomorrow" together with a preparatory sketch for it that was found in Taro Okamoto's atelier last year.
