Ukiyo-e prints published at the end of the Edo era often feature artwork similar to pictures in vogue or actual events. This has been attributed mainly to people's desire for images related to notable events and natural disasters happening around them combined with the fact that copying popular works became easier due to a sudden increase in publishers. This exhibition introduces Ukiyo-e prints that portray the social situation at the end of the shogunate centering around works by famous artists of the time such as Kunichika, Sadahide, Yoshiiku, Yoshitoshi, Nidai Hiroshige. In addition, drafts by Sandai Toyokuni from the Mitani Family Collection donated to Chiyoda Ward Yonbancho History Museum will be on special display.
